Dr. Ashish R. Thakakr, MD is an allopathically trained Internist, Pulmonologist and Intensive Care Physician. He is originally from Long Island, NY but relocated to South Florida for the sun, sand and healthier lifestyle. He believes that the root cause of many pulmonary diseases may extend beyond the airways and have a multitude of contributing factors such as lifestyle, diet and exposure risks. In the same vein he has also begun to see that perhaps undertreated or uncontrolled pulmonary disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea or COPD may also contribute to the detriment of diseases that are originally thought to affect other body systems, such as the central nervous system. It is with this hypothesis of interconnected disease processes that the holistic approach of The Alzheimer's Treatment Centers of America resonated with him loudest. He is excited to be part of the medical advisory board of ATCA and looks forward to seeing patients improve under their care.
